There have been a long perception that Macs are indeed safer than a PC with Apple even go as far create ADS saying " Macs don't get Viruses" implying that you putting your data at much greater risk if you aren't on the Macs Platform. But, how much truth is there to this Claim?
Well! Around the 2012-2013 time frame it was estimated that about one third or the world's of the world computer that infected some sort of malware and when you look at only Macs that number was less than 3 percent. Who know ? the number true or not?

Windows is more Value?

It is depend on what exactly you mean by safer. As you can see while are true there are a few threats that design to attack on Macs compared to window PCs the reason for that might not what you think. Worldwide just over three quarters of desktop computers run variant of Microsoft Windows with Mac OS 10 a very distant second just over 12 percent market share that mean the simple truth Blackhat hackers and Cyber criminals see more value in targeting Windows it kind like how you are more likely a pickpocket operating in the tourist district of a large city compared to a small town of middle nowhere.

Because, the Different

If you going back to Apple claim Macs don't get PCs Viruses it's not hard to figure it out that while it Technically true it was clearly design to mislead while Windows and Macs OS are very different operating systems in term of their underlying code with modern version of the Windows based on the Windows NT kernel and Macs OS instead based on Unix. There actually isn't about Macs OS that make it inherently more secure. Instead the differences between Windows and Macs OS mean that while malware often has to be code separately for each platform a Mac isn't necessarily more difficult to attack of less vulnerable than a Window PC. So, saying that " Macs don't get PCs viruses " is about a useful getting a message on it a dating app when someone told you they simply can't catch diseases that only affect cows which somehow make them more appealing, but at the end of the day does it matter? why fewer viruses that can infect you exist? I mean maybe you should pick a Mac reducing the odd of getting a malware infection simply by playing a number. Well there's actually legitimate to be made there but here the things using a safer platform is no excuse to drop your guard while it is true there a fewer exploit out Macs.

Phishing Attack

It's actually much more common this days for the bad guys to steal your data by employing social engineering anyway. Social engineering includes tactics like phishing attack that are design to trick to giving up your information through compromised websites. Such strategies are independent of what platform you are using so simply by paying attention not clicking on the suspect link or downloading questionable file you likely to avoid the worst of the malware out there regardless or whether your a PC or Mac it also help that both Microsoft and Apple help develop comprehensive ways of securing systems. While neither of them is by means perfect both companies invest plenty of resources into finding and patching vulnerabilities usually in pretty timely manner.

Solution

Exercising some caution that how you use your machine and ensuring that you have a good Anti-Malware solution installed is far more likely to be helpful than simply choosing a Mac just because isn't as much Mac specific malware in the wild. If you are really paranoid you can always just migrate to a system that doesn't allow you to download any program that aren't part if vetted of app store like a chrome book it's just that. If you do you might have to give up pirating your favorite games.
